The right kind of pizza to release your inner fantasy

Sunday, February 12, 2012

With a wonderful wife and two darling little girls, I've got more valentines than anyone deserves. So for pizza night this week, I decided to surprise the family with a Papa Murphy's limited-time special "Heartbaker" large pizza. You can currently pick one up for $6 + tax at your local Middle TN Papa Murphy's location through February 14th, and then there's the sweet little side-deal of getting a free 16 oz. tub of chocolate chip cookie dough if you're signed up for Papa Murphy's text club

One of my favorite things about Papa Murphy's is that when they say it's pizza the way you want it, they mean it. I had a special request for my pizza, and the South Rutherford Blvd. Papa Murphy's was perfectly happy to oblige.

She proudly presents ...
The Double-Heart Heartbaker!
The Heartbaker dough cutting
Split toppings? Yeah, we can do that.

Another great Papa Murphy's perk is that unless your toppings actually overlap each other, a split-topping pizza is still rang up as a 1-topping order. Perfect, since I love pineapple and my wife ... well, doesn't. Everybody gets their favorite without getting nickel & dimed.

All packed up and ready to take home! Spoiler: the cookie dough may not have finished the trip still sealed.

We cooked this one for 13 minutes at 425°F on the center rack, and it came out perfect. Brown all over the bottom, nothing scorched, and the cheese hot and melty, but warm enough to dig right in by the time I was done cutting it and serving everyone their plate.

Ready ...
Set ...
Done!

My 2-1/2 year old exclaimed, "My heart pizza! Oh, thank you, Daddy!" when I brought it in. Nothing like ending the week by looking like Super Dad to your kids. To cap off the evening, we got out the TV trays and queued up her new favorite show to watch - Inspector Gadget reruns. The youngest, however, wasn't nearly as concerned with the special dinner arrangement as she was with simply getting her share of the pie.

Thanks for a great pizza night, Papa Murphy's!
